The Details
Project Overview
During a scheduled outage at a power plant in Noblesville, Indiana, CIE was brought in to oversee the removal and replacement of multiple large pumps. Given the complexity of multi-crane tandem lifts and tight spaces, our NCCCO-Certified Lift Director ensured precise coordination, safety compliance, and smooth execution from start to finish.
The Solution
CIE’s Lift Director reviewed all lift plans, conducted pre-lift coordination, and managed real-time crane operations involving overhead, fixed cab, and swing cab cranes. Our involvement reduced downtime, minimized risk, and helped the facility remain fully OSHA and ASME compliant.
Phase 1: Lift Planning & Pre-Lift Coordination
Our Lift Director:
-
Reviewed thorough lift plans for all pump lifts
-
Coordinated lift sequencing with site engineers
-
Verified crane placements, lift paths, and rigging points
-
Conducted all safety checks before operations began
Phase 2: Multi-Crane Tandem Lifts
CIE oversaw tandem lifts involving:
-
Overhead & fixed cab cranes
- Fixed cab & swing cab cranes
We ensured real-time communication, exact rigging attachment, and synchronized operator movements across tight and active zones.
Phase 3: Real-Time Oversight
-
Live adjustments for environmental and jobsite variables
-
Verification of all rigging before each lift
-
Full supervision of lift teams, including post-lift checks
